What is a herbal supplement?
Herbal supplements are a type of dietary supplement containing one or more herbs and are used to promote health and wellbeing.
There are thousands of plant species that grow all over the world with medicinal benefits because they contain active ingredients that have a direct impact on the body. They are commonly used in both herbal and conventional medicine and offer benefits that pharmaceutical drugs often lack, helping to combat illness and support the body's efforts to regain good health.
Our herbal formulas consist of well-studied herbs with a good safety profile that are known to be effective. Currently, we focus on formulas that can support sleep and digestion, reduce stress and improve energy levels.
How do herbal supplements work?
One of the most common ways of classifying medicinal plants is to identify their impact. This means determining whether they are sedative, antiseptic or diuretic, and the degree to which they affect different body systems. Herbs often have a pronounced action on a particular body system. We currently focus on herbs that can help support our nervous system, endocrine glands, and digestive system.

Nervines (e.g., passionflower) and Relaxants (e.g., lemon balm) relax the nervous system. They are known for their ability to promote calmness and restore balance in the body.

Endocrine System
Adaptogens, e.g. ginseng and ashwagandha, help the body adjust to external pressures and stress. Adaptogens are known to help the body better cope with stress by balancing hormones, improving the immune system, and boosting energy levels and endurance.

Digestive System
Bitters such as peppermint stimulate the secretion of digestive juices by the stomach and intestines. Carminatives such as sage, anise and coriander relieve wind and griping pain. Cholagogues such as rosemary improve the flow of bile into the intestines. Antispasmodics such as sage and oregano can relieve abdominal cramps. Flatulence such as anise and chamomile can help to pass excess gas and improve bloating. Our digestive herbal formula is a blend of all mentioned herbs that can aid digestion.
What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy, also referred to as essential oil therapy, is the study and application of essential oils. It includes the holistic application and use of essential oils to support the health and well-being of the user.
Our aromatherapy products consist of a variety of essential oil blends that are known to work harmoniously to promote and support well-being. We focus on aromatic blends that can support sleep, reduce stress, and improve energy levels.
What are the effects of aromatherapy?
Aromas can be very effective as we have a much stronger sense of smell in comparison to other senses. Chemicals in a scent can trigger physiological responses and have an impact on how we feel. Those combined effects enable aromatic oils to work holistically on your body and mind, bringing balance, healing and often a profound sense of well-being.
On the mind:
Essential oils can enhance well-being, mood and relaxation. For example, chamomile essential oil promotes concentration and bergamot essential oil promotes relaxation.
On the body:
Essential oils are natural healers with medicinal properties. For example, oils such as Thyme can help with inflammation due to its antiseptic properties. In addition, tea tree essential oil has been shown to destroy fungus, viruses and bacteria. Essential oils can also help to detox and clean the body from toxins e.g., orange essential oil.

Who creates our herbal and aromatherapy formulas?
Our Herbal Supplements:
We develop our herbal supplement formulas in collaboration with a Laboratory in the South of France, and a medical licensed Naturopathic Doctor based in California, USA - Dr Zixiang Cheng, ND with license number CA ND-1200.
Our Aromatherapy Products:
Our Aromatherapy products are formulated by a licensed aromatherapist with extensive knowledge on how to use essential oils to heal and improve health conditions.
What is the range of plant products that Sanatura offers?
Our mission is to develop as many products derived from plants as possible. We have two major ranges of products – Aromatherapy products (non-ingestible) and Herbal Supplements (ingestible).

Why does Sanatura work with Herbal Tinctures instead of pills or tablets?
Capsules and tablets generally have a lower bioavailability and absorption rate. They take longer to be absorbed because they pass through the digestive system first. Some ingredients can be lost during the digestion process, meaning those with poorer digestive systems may have difficulty breaking down the capsule shell. They might not be able to fully absorb the ingredient and therefore capsules and tablets generally have a lower bioavailability compared to herbal tinctures.
Our most recommended method to ingest a tincture is by using the sublingual method. It requires the user to place the herbal tincture under the tongue for 15-30 seconds. The extract will quickly go to the bloodstream via the blood vessels under the tongue. The bioavailability and absorption rate is often higher and the benefits can be felt more quickly. Alternatively, the user may add the herbal tincture into other drinks such as tea, water and juice. However, drinking it will also slow the absorption and lower the bioavailability.
Do we use ethically sourced herbs?
We make a conscious effort to understand where our plants come from and how they are harvested. We also want to see how the products are made, and under which conditions. That's why we have been travelling to see different plantation fields and nature laboratories, to make sure everything is ethically manufactured.
We have traveled to France, Portugal, England, Brazil, Hong Kong, and Uruguay for this purpose.
Why do plants have different countries of origin?
You might notice that the plants used in our products aren’t sourced in different countries. Although the plants can grow in different climates, it does not mean that that they will always develop medicinal properties. So, we really ensure that the plants we work with are sourced ethically from the right environmental conditions.
Do our products contain gluten and are they vegan-friendly?
None of our products contain gluten. Our herbal supplements are manufactured with GMP and ISO practices. Although no gluten is in any of the ingredients in our herbal supplements, there is still the risk of cross-contamination as they travel from their point of origin to our facility.
How should I store my Sanatura products?
We suggest keeping your Sanatura products in a cool, dark, and dry place.
Shipping & Refund Policy
What is the shipping method in Hong Kong and how long does it take?
We ship via SF Express. Orders are generally dispatched within 1-2 working days and delivered within 2-3 working days. We can deliver to your address.
General delivery time: Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm
The cut-off time is before 2pm every day
The courier company will call the customer to make an appointment before delivery
Same-day delivery may be possible with an extra charge
Do you provide free shipping?
Customers with a total order amount of over HK$500 are given free delivery via SF Express if they have an eligible address.
Do you provide international delivery?
We only ship within Hong Kong at the moment, but we will be looking to ship and expand overseas in the near future.
What is your return policy?
Sanatura strongly believes in the products sold through our website and wish for every customer to have the opportunity to experience the best results possible. We place an extremely high standard on our customer service, and we want every customer to be satisfied with their purchase experience. However, due to the potential for fraudulent activity, we only accept returns of merchandise purchased directly from our website.
You have [14] calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Your item must also be in the original packaging and your return must include the receipt or proof of purchase.
Once we receive your item, we will inspect it and immediately notify you of the status of your refund. If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit/debit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer’s policies.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Our return address is as follows: Sanatura, 1st floor, 26 Cochrane St, Central. Please return your product within 1 week of receiving it. All returned products should be in a resalable condition for a full refund.
